About Positive Steps for Later Life
The need for Positive Steps for Later Life began when the founder, Connie Comber, saw her own parents through their last decade of life.
She watched as they gradually lost their precious independence due to stroke, frailty, dementia, crippling arthritis. Each dealing with their respective health issues at different phases and times.
Major changes were needed - on every level; over a period of several years every layer of care was called upon, including home care - then long-term residential aged care.
This time created shifts (or rifts) in the whole family, including dissenting views, sibling disagreements and financial contention.
The journey felt bemusing; unknown. A set of confused new directions with no ‘signposts’; inadequate support and know-how for major decision-making; exacerbating conflict and insecurity.
